Urban Vegetation Leveraging Actions

چکیده
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include a subset of targets that can be advanced through standard urban management activities. In particular, routine vegetation comprises number activities with potential impact on Goal #4 (quality education), #11 (sustainable cities and communities), #13 (protect the planet), #15 (life land), and, perhaps less obviously, but equally important, #8 (good jobs economic growth). This paper discusses how help achieve SDGs at local level. Drawing case study (Talavera de la Reina, Spain), it is shown an intelligent approach to leverage resources towards little or no cost municipalities. Minor modifications conceptual changes in practices are carried out make difference. Including this dimension even result positive balance for municipal budget. Our analyses proposals broad direct applicability areas worldwide city authorities officials align their simply by making minor adjustments they currently deal vegetation.

Spatiotemporal Monitoring of Urban Vegetation
Monitoring spatiotemporal changes in urban agglomorations will become increasingly important as the number and proportion of urban residents continue to increase. Intra-urban variations in vegetation abundance influence environmental conditions and energy fluxes by selective reflection and absorbtion of solar radiation, by modulation of evapotranspiration and by sequestration of pollutants. The...
متن کاملFractional Vegetation Cover Estimation In Urban Environments
Quality of life in urban environments is closely related to vegetation cover. The Urban growth and its related environmental problems, planners are forced to implement policies to improve the quality of urban environment. Thus, vegetation mapping for planning and managing urban is critical. Given the spectral complexity of the urban environment and the sparse vegetation in these areas, to gener...
متن کاملPrevalent vegetation growth enhancement in urban environment.
Urbanization, a dominant global demographic trend, leads to various changes in environments (e.g., atmospheric CO2 increase, urban heat island). Cities experience global change decades ahead of other systems so that they are natural laboratories for studying responses of other nonurban biological ecosystems to future global change. However, the impacts of urbanization on vegetation growth are n...
متن کاملMoving beyond Operations: Leveraging Big Data for Urban Planning Decisions
Big data is here: urban infrastructure systems are being instrumented to provide continuous reports on their performance; buildings are monitoring and reporting occupancy and energy use; distributed water and air quality sensors are providing real time information on dozens of environmental parameters. Cell phone location data is providing a detailed view of the activity patterns for millions o...
متن کاملLeveraging spatio-temporal clustering for participatory urban infrastructure monitoring
Internet-enabled, location aware smart phones with sensor inputs have led to novel applications exploiting unprecedented high levels of citizen participation in dense metropolitan areas. Especially the possibility to make oneself heard on issues, such as broken traffic lights, potholes or garbage, has led to a high degree of participation in Urban Infrastructure Monitoring. However, duplicate r...
